When we think of Scandinavia, we usually think about good looking and fit people, herring and a very cold winter…although the long summer nights are also worth a visit. But if you don’t have the budget yet to discover it, you can still take a Swedish break in the heart of Paris.
If you head to the “Institut Suédois” rue Payenne, you will probably appreciate its courtyard and garden. Their café is also very cosy and their friendly waiters will serve you some typical and delicious Swedish pastries.
During midsommar, when they celebrate the arrival of summer, the institute usually organises a few open-air concerts, a good opportunity to taste a smorrebrod or have an elderflower juice.
And if you are into jazz, I highly recommend to visit the “Cercle Suédois” on a Wednesday night, located in a beautiful “hotel particulier” overlooking the Tuileries gardens. For a few euros, you can have a glass of wine while listening to a jazz band for a few hours. You can even taste their inventive Swedish tapas dish.
