When I think of chocolate, I think of La Maison du Chocolat. Christmas will be coming up very soon. This is that time of the year when we, in France, eat a traditional dessert called la bûche. Its name come from its shape, which resembles a log. The traditional recipe consists of a sponge cake filled with buttercream and rolled to form a cylinder.
Every winter, there is a strong battle taking place between all the high-end pastry shops in Paris to create the most unique “bûche de Noël”. Being a chocolate addict, my favourite remains the one from La Maison du Chocolat.
However, La Maison du Chocolat is not only well-known for its bûche. It also sells unique chocolates and their specialty is “la ganache”. I recently attended one of their chocolate tasting sessions, where we learned everything about chocolate from the cocoa tree to the hot chocolate you get in your cup. Just a dream coming true ! If you haven’t sampled them yet, run to one of their boutiques and they will let you try a chocolate of your choice. Always very tempting…
I am also an “éclair” addict and I couldn’t resist this new chestnut flavour. So delicious!!!
