I have always been a chocolate addict and thought it was about time for me to share a few of my favourite places in Paris.
La Maison du Chocolat
If you want to learn about chocolate, La Maison du Chocolat is a place not to be missed. They have a few training sessions, mostly in French, which will tell you everything from the to the chocolate bar. Their passionate team will even teach you how to make a perfect ganache and impress your guests. The good news is La Maison du Chocolat also gives training sessions in their boutique in New York.
The chocolate bars
If you’re adventurous and feel the appeal of a chocolate bar, you should visit Christophe Roussel near the Eiffel tower. The place offers a large selection of macarons. Some flavours are quite surprising, like the rhum/coca or the lavander/apricot version.
After a tiring visit at the Louvre, the closest chocolate paradise is Jean-Paul Hevin‘s tearoom, where you can enjoy a warm and frothy hot chocolate, which is lighter than the one from Angelina’s but still delicious. The place is also worth a visit for their exquisite pastries. If you still haven’t had enough of it on the spot, you can even bring one of their chocolate lollipops home.
Chocolates for the Kings of France
Finally, if you feel like travelling in the past, head to Debauve & Gallais near the Bourse metro station. This is the oldest chocolate shop in Paris. For the last 200 years, this shop has given royal treatment to the Parisians, and even to the Kings of France themselves, with their chocolate gems.
